Online Training for Green Jobs at NTI

online training for green jobsOne school is planning to offer online training (Click here) and other preparation for popular "green collar" jobs.

Maine-based Northeast Technical Institute recently announced that it will soon offer a Green Energy Technician training program. The six-week program will provide graduates with the knowledge and certifications they need to succeed in a green career.

The program will give students an understanding of energy efficient gas, energy conservation methods and solar thermal installation. Students also will learn proven methods to reduce the consumption of oil and how to create new green plans for the future.

Eligible students will graduate with certifications as Propane and Natural Gas Technician, Certified Residential Energy Auditors and Certified Solar Thermal Installers, allowing them to apply for entry level positions with independent contractors in efficient heating, energy auditing and solar installation.

"These three emerging energy and conservation sectors are at the fore front of today's vital educational requirements for reducing carbon dependency and producing green efficiencies for a sustainable energy future," Steve Stilphen, director of green energy training at NTI, said.

While the overall economy has been facing a grim outlook due to the current economic recession, sectors in the green industry have continued to expand and hire.

"Green energy stands out as a bright spot in an otherwise cloudy economic picture," James Liponis, CEO and president of NTI, said. "NTI is excited to offer this new program to students, who will learn to use leading technological equipment and energy conservation practices."

NTI has two campuses in Maine and one campus in Massachusetts. The school offers a variety of certificate and diploma courses in allied health, information technology, heating and air conditioning and professional transportation. NTI offers instructor led learning, online training and a combination of the two formats.
