RPO Company Partners with Australian Military
One of the biggest RPO (Click here) companies has secured the biggest recruitment outsourcing program in the world.
Manpower Inc recently announced that it has secured a $200 million contract to run the Australian military's recruiting program. Expanding on an earlier deal, the new contract will significantly increase Manpower's recruitment process outsourcing and its Australia operations.
The program for the Australian Defence Force is expected to begin in February and last 27 months. Manpower will provide the Australian military with recruitment functions, including everything from marketing and promotion to candidate screening and hiring.
"Manpower's capability in managing and delivering large-scale and complex recruitment services is necessary to attract the caliber of military recruits that we are looking for," Commodore Timothy Barrett, director general of Defence Force recruiting, said. "The breadth, nature and complexity of this recruitment program can be considered critical to national security."
Manpower will work to improve the Australian Defence Force's efficiency, reducing the cost and time it takes to fill position vacancies and enabling the military to focus on achieving its primary objectives. The company plans to employ about 300 workers during the course of the contract.
The Australian military also outsourced its recruitment function to Manpower during 2002, which led to the creation of Defence Force Recruiting. That organization serves as a coalition among the Army, Navy, Air Force, Manpower and two civilian sub-contractor companies.
According to an article by Reuters, many experts expect the contract between Manpower and the Australian military will help to support growth in the recruitment process outsourcing industry.
HRO Today Magazine reported that the industry will expand between 10 percent and 15 percent per year. Industry revenues are estimated to be anywhere between $800 million and $2 billion per year.
