State of Nevada Jobs with RSCVA Cut
One local tourism organization has cut almost $1 million from its budget, resulting in the loss of several state of Nevada jobs (Click here).
The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority recently announced that it would make $960,000 in cuts along with other measures in an effort to close a projected $1.6 million budget deficit. Part of those cuts include the elimination of seven full-time employees, who will receive severance packages.
One of the biggest problems is that almost two-thirds of RSCVA's income is generated from a portion of room tax paid by hotel occupants in Washoe County. However, those revenues have seen yearly declines since March 2008.
